Program Presenter
PEMA™ creator Dana Shai Ph.D. and Rose Spencer, PsychD.
Program Objectives
This introductory seminar to Identifying Embodied Risk and Protective Factors in the Parent-infant Relationship is sure to be as engaging, informative and productive as our face-to-face meetings — although coffee and snacks will not be served.
This interactive seminar will introduce participants to the theory, application and promise of PEM and PEMA™ in a variety of clinical practices.
The program will begin with a visual lecture focusing on parental mentalizing and the language of nonverbal movement. Thereafter, participants will be invited to experiential exercises, video assessments, group discussions — as well as smaller 'break out room’ conversations exploring PEM and embodied risk and protective factors in parent-infant dyads. In addition, a case study will be presented to illustrate the methodology and use of PEMA™ as well as the various ways in which it can be applied clinically.
